A constant and wakeful vigilance is required to maintain the liberty and justice to which Barry Goldwater referred
in the above quote. It is all too easy to allow these treasures to slip away as we scarcely notice it.
The United States of America is arguably facing its greatest challenge since its founding. We are facing
a confluence of forces which are rocking our very foundations. Throughout history, great cultures have come and gone
with regularity. Their declines were always related to the loss of their cultural moorings. They forgot where they
came from. And by the time they realized it, it was too late. They had lost the cultural memory required to
maintain their former greatness. Whether or not America today can escape this fate is the paramount question of our time.
New American Mind is dedicated to the public discussion of questions on this subject. The issues range far and wide
